P O I N T I L L I S M This art form was developed by the French artist George Seurat in the late 1800's. Because it's all done by hand, this takes hours of patience and concentration to complete. Some of the dots in a pointillist rendering can be as small as .20 mm in diameter. Although Steve almost failed grade nine art and didn't take any more art classes while in high school, he found he was always doodling and experimenting with how to best capture what his eye saw onto paper. Years later he took a night school drawing course and it was there that he discovered a natural affinity for pen and ink drawings, specifically pointillism. Steve works from a photo to recreate a rendering in which a series of tiny dots are combined to form the picture or portrait. Steve's rendering of blues musician 'FatHead' was chosen to hang in the Oshawa Art Gallery and is also hanging in the local jazz/blues establishment Chicago's in Oshawa. Steve has also donated various works to fundraisers such as the Hurricane Katrina Relief Auction, The Rik Emmett Concert Auction, and a silent auction for Hearth Place. Please contact Steve if you have any questions regarding commissioned works or if you'd like to purchase a print.
